I’ve been hearing and reading a lot about Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, and the blurb seemed silly but sweet, so I wanted to give it a try. I read it on my e-reader.

working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and
tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she's been
doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a
boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago.

acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living

wouldn't dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human
captors--until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

It was indeed rather silly and sweet. Nothing special, nothing memorable or remarkable. It’s light, easy to read, and feel-good, but also predictable.
Remarkably Bright Creatures is a nice, cozy book to pass the time, but it won’t leave a lasting impression.
